Joe E. Trull (ThD, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) is editor of Christian Ethics Today and formerly served as professor of Christian ethics at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. James E. Carter (1935-2015; PhD, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) was a pastor with over thirty years of experience. This book let me know of the errors in our ministerial system and how for some there is very little accountability. One of those issues of who is policing the police. It is very important the ministers new and old are on top of the ethics of the ministry. Overall a great book to read. It was very depressing in the later chapters of how many pastors were not accountable for their actions of infidelity and impropriety with those they were responsible for shepherding.
For those who apply the lessons learned from this VERY well researched book, there is protection and provision for both the minister and ministries they support. The personal Code of Ethics and links to personal and professional support they encourage would have been a tremendous help to many who fell and damaged various denomenations and parashurch organizations over the past 20 years.
The society today is full of information in all levels and no filters for our kids. As Christians we really need to understand our roll with our kids and our Church. People today need to understand the Ethics in all our life aspects and, instead to live with the flow on regular bases, we need to be prepare to shepherd our future generation of Christians with the precepts that God wrote for us in the Bible.
I found this book to be most informative and I highly recommend it....All Five fold Ascension gift should have this book in your library.
Bought this for a study on ministerial ethics. There is a great need to equip pastors & lay leaders for decision making & common sense judgment in the local church. Healthy boundaries for leaders make for a better workplace environment . You can't assume leaders have been trained to recognize potential conflicts of interest.
Love. Love, love this book. This book is great for any Minister leader or Pastor who wants to built a strong ethical base for the leaders in Ministry. I had to purchase this book for a minister class. Many fundamental examples of what it takes to be an ethical ministry leader.
A good book to shore up the morals and ethics of all people, no matter what walk of life, ministry or leadership position. This book talks a lot about the fall of sexual morals with pastors and ministry leaders as well as good guidelines from cross denominations to create greater accountability, and deep conviction against these sins. It would be great if everyone in ministry would have to read this book or take an ethics class.
An excellent presentation of material that holds the feet to the fire of anyone in any form of ministry.This is not just a must read, it is a must do!! In fact, it should be step one reading for anyone consideringany form of ministry. It wouldn't hurt to read it once a year after initial reading, just to be reminded of what is required.
