Does exactly what the book says and gives a comprehensive last minute review of optics. Very useful for OKAPs a few weeks before.Pros: Organized/Step wise approach to teaching with some basic problems to do as you move through each lesson. Makes you feel comfortable with the basics of optics and gives you the ability to apply it to more complex problems. Concise resource very easy read in 7-8 hours and complete the entire book.Cons: Complex problems are lacking, does not have many back of the book problems for you to do. Felt more complex optics problems (prismatic effect in glasses, contact lens over correction were not covered in depth enough). Has a little coverage of some clinical optics for Oral boards but not enough to feel prepared.Overall this is a great entry review book to learn the basics of optics that will prepare you to handle most of problems you will encounter on OKAPs but if you are looking for more detailed problems and "advanced" optics problems this canNOT be your only resource.

Perfect read through for OKAPS and boards. This book really helped me out and I did quite well with optics on the boards. I highly recommend having a copy of this. I have taken the Guyton course too. I personally like to go through optics myself rather than be lectured at. If you understand all the concepts in this book, you should do well with optics.I really recommend spending the time with each question and really understanding each piece. Even though it is a thin book, I divided up the chapters during high study time. I also recommend going through it each time for OKAPS. Great book!

Used this for OKAP and then real board exam prep and it's the main reason I did so well on optics. This is a comprehensive optics review that is incredibly high yield with information presented in a way that is easy to read and understand. It's short enough that reading it close to your exam so that the information is fresh on your mind is doable. I haven't taken oral boards yet but will plan to review this book for those as well.

I liked it. It's very concise and well written in an easy format to read. I think it's a good quick and easy review for optics before the exam, but I don't think it's enough alone, works best if combined with Dr.Guyton's Ophthalmic Optics books, they compliment each other.Good luck with your exams :-)

I was recommended this text to study for OKAP. I found the format a little difficult to read - i.e. problems with answers/solutions instead of plain text, but overall, I learned enough optics to feel pretty comfortable with this subject on the test. I think this book would be even more helpful to those who are intimidated by the math involved and prefer to learn by reviewing solutions to common problems.

The book for OKAP and boards! Go for 100 percentile.

it is not a standard text, not meant to be. but it is a very practical review with practical information and applications not found in many standard texts. the information is also pretty current and accurate, albeit paltry. definitely a good read the month before the exam, and the best review material for those finished with the exams. a nice fresh approach to a tedious task all in all. good one!

Great!
